Leading a Yoga Retreat

Coming back from our recent Awaken Your Heart Yoga Retreat, I feel like the luckiest person in the world to get to do what I love for a living. Leading a yoga retreat is a lot of work, it is physically and emotionally tiring & it requires hours upon hours of pre-planning, but it is one of the most rewarding events to lead.

Whenever I lead events or classes, often students thank me afterwards but honestly, I am so thankful for everyone who shows up! I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the occasional ego boost, but I love when people come together to share, connect, create community. To me, there is nothing more rewarding to be a part of.The world can be a tough place sometimes but when we come together to move, breathe, tune in, just be; it becomes so clear that we are all looking for the same thing…love, connection, healing. And being able to hold space for that to happen, watching people learn, listen, hold space, hold each other, strangers become lifelong friends, shifts happen right before your eyes; words can’t express how incredibly beautiful it is. It’s why I do what I do!

I learn so much from each person that I meet.I learn about the world, about yoga, about different walks of life, how to communicate, how to pivot, & I learn about myself. Not only do I learn, I have so much fun! Between the real work, there is laughter, inside jokes, travels, adventures, play & friendships.

A retreat creates this safe little container for people to come together and be themselves without all the day-to-day responsibilities. Freedom to let go. So, while I can’t speak for everyone who attends a retreat, I know for me, my biggest take away from a yoga retreat is: CONNECTION.  Connection to self, to others; realizing there is something bigger than myself linking us all together in this wild world.
