What is Yin Yoga?

Welcome to Yin Yoga.

Have you heard of Yin Yoga? When I took my first Yin Yoga class, I was full of curiosity. I had heard a little bit about Yin, but really only knew that it was long held poses.

I didn’t know what to expect but went into the class with an open mind.

When I left, I felt rejuvenated!

Like most people, my life is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! I’m always moving, always on the go, always another task or appointment at hand.

It can be difficult to just take time to slow it down.

I struggle with anxiety, and practicing Yin Yoga allows me to invest in quality personal time with myself, balance my energy and clear my mind.

It’s the perfect stress relief for me when I feel completely overwhelmed.

What is Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga consists of long-held, passive floor postures that target the connective tissue. These connective tissues – tendons, fascia and ligaments – respond well to slow and steady loads in order to stretch and strengthen.

Yin takes a more meditative approach, allowing the mind to go inward and find stillness.

The Benefits of Yin Yoga

  • Calm the mind
  • Increased flexibility
  • Deeper relaxation
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improved health and longevity
